What is SCASA?

The Specialty Coffee Association of Southern Africa exists to promote the quality and sustainability of specialty coffee in Southern Africa.

The organisation works to provide resources and training to members of the specialty coffee industry, as well as to build relationships with local and international partners.

SCASA also participates in activities to raise awareness of specialty coffee and promote its growth in the region.

What are the duties of the BoD?

The Board of Directors is the driving force behind SCASA.  Together, they work towards promoting and improving the specialty coffee industry in South Africa in accordance with their mandate and constitution.

The Board typically meets at least once/month. Directors are responsible to actively participate in all meetings, with a minimum number of 6 meets per annum.

Duties include but are not limited to:

- Plan the various SCA-authorised championships (eg. Barista Champs, Cupping Champs, Latte Art Champs etc).
- Market SCASA with the aim of promoting specialty coffee in SA.
- Manage memberships, sponsors and the finances thereof.

What is the term of a Director?

A period of 2 years’ service is expected of a Director

How many Directors are there?

The BoD typically consists of 6 directors.
